Maria + Scott: the wedding trailer

You may remember Maria + Scott as the lucky couple that won my "Bridal Stimulus Package" contest from earlier this year. As a result, they earned themselves a few extra hours of coverage time "on the house", which they definitely put to good use.

Maria + Scott were married at St. John Neumann Church in Canton and their reception was held at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti at Eagle Crest. Althought the weather didn't always cooperate, the day was still a blast. A mixture of fun and emotion, the way it should be. It was my first time working with photographer/journalist Bryan Mitchell and he was great. Click here to check out some images from their wedding on his blog.

Here's the teaser trailer for Maria + Scott's upcoming wedding film. Hope you like it!

Stefanie + Yoni: a Congregation Shaarey Zedek wedding!

It was definitely a beautiful day for Stefanie + Yoni's wedding: warm sun, wispy clouds in the blue sky, and, best of all, lots of family and friends to join in the celebration! Stefanie + Yoni were married at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield. This was one of several weddings I've filmed this year for "out of town" couples. Stefanie + Yoni live in Massachusetts but came "home" to get married. I know it isn't easy planning a wedding from another state so it definitely helps if you have a planner (and, in this case, Stefanies' mother...) helping you out. Everything turned out great!

I was there to capture the pre-ceremony activities all the way thru their "action-packed" reception (I swear the dance floor was packed all night long...!!). It was great to work with Laurie Tennent (thanks again for the referral... and the photos!) and the Simone Vitale Band. Singer/musician Avy Schreiber joined in with the band and was spectacular! Many thanks also to Pat Blackwell for all her help throughout the day!

Here's their wedding trailer. Hope you like it...

Kathryn + Aaron: the Dearborn Country Club wedding trailer

The first shot in the trailer pretty much sums up the weather on Kathryn + Aaron's wedding day. However, the weather didn't define the day or damper the spirit of love that was present in abundance. From Kathryn's preparations to the last minute pre-ceremony activities at the church, you could sense the excitement building in the air. After exchanging their vows during a beautiful ceremony at Divine Child Catholic Church, Kathryn + Aaron were off to the Dearborn Country Club to enjoy their celebration. Cancel Monday provided the entertainment and kept the guests groovin' all evening long. Erika and Stacy from Emerald City Designs did an amazing job all day long and were truly a pleasure to work with (I'm looking forward to doing it again...). Enjoy the trailer for Kathryn + Aaron's upcoming wedding film...

What a way to start the week...

So here I am, sitting in front of my computer on a Monday morning, getting myself ready to begin editing another wedding film... and, let me tell you, as much as I love what I do, sometimes the hardest part of beginning work on a new project is "beginning work on a new project". So, imagine my surprise when, all of the sudden (as if on cue...), I receive the following email...

"Hi Lee!
We absolutely love the video! Our hopes were very high after seeing the amazing trailer that you put together and after seeing the full video it is clear that we made the right choice in having you as our videographer. The most incredible thing to me was that I didn't see you the entire time at the reception yet you still managed to capture some amazing images that perfectly highlighted the most important aspects of that day. If you remember, that was one of the first concerns I brought up to you when we first met - that I had been to weddings before where the videographer seemed to steal the "specialness" of the moment away from the couple via his/her incredibly bright lights on the dance floor. You told me not to worry about that and you were right because, like I said before, you were practically invisible the entire day. Your video had us running the gambit of emotions. The breathtakingly beautiful way that you captured our wedding ceremony had us near tears. The authentic and natural way you captured the reception events had us cracking up. Your video allowed us to completely relive the most important day in our lives and in doing so you brought incredible joy and happiness into our lives once again.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Josh & Leah"

Wow!! If I'm not motivated to start editing now, I don't know when I will be. Thanks Leah + Josh for asking me to be a part of your day - it was definitely an honor and I had an amazing time! Thanks also for the great email - even though it's only morning, you've made my day already! Here's another look at their trailer. It's definitely one of my faves... (stayed tuned, brand new trailers coming this week...!)

Lisa + James: a Royal Park Hotel Wedding

What can I say about Lisa + James... they are fun, fun, fun to be around! So much so, that their wedding day literally flew by (good thing I was videotaping, huh?). I mean, I show up at the classy Royal Park Hotel in downtown Rochester at about 2pm and the next thing I know, it's going on 11pm - wow! Lisa and Jim have this amazingly playful manner about them when they're together and I think I did a pretty good job of capturing that in this pre-ceremony clip (if I do say so myself...). Hope you agree.

It was definitely a first class vendor line-up that day, as I had the pleasure of working with event planner extraordinaire Laura Davis and her team, amazing photographer Kevin Kramer (who not only captures amazingly beautiful images but is a blast to work with as well...), and, (dare I say) the best dj in Detroit, Rod Burnette from Music Box Productions. He, and his assistant Scott Ryan, had the place rockin' well into the night. Let's not forget to mention one of my favorite venues of all-time, the Royal Park Hotel - first class all the way!

So, here you go... chapter one from Lisa + Jim's CINEMAshortfilm. Click on the comments link below and let me know what you think. And, to Lisa + Jim... happy honeymooning!!!

jessica + brian: a knollwood country club wedding

OK, OK... I've been a little lax in the blog department lately. I'll admit it. It's been a busy - but great - summer (where did summer go, but the way...?). Now that the kids are back in school and I finally have a few weekends off, all that is about to change. So, check back often as new film clips are on the way...

First up, is Jessica + Brian's wedding at the beautiful Knollwood Country Club in West Bloomfield. It was obvious Jessica + Brian had been looking forward to this day for a long time and it didn't disappoint. The location was beautiful, the weather was great, and family and friends were ready to help them celebrate. I couldn't get over how Jess + Brian seemed to glow in each other's presence. Love was definitely in the air...

I had the pleasure of working alongside Samantha + Brian from A Thousands Words Photography. It'd been awhile and I forgot how much fun I have working with them. They are so friendly and easy-going and capture some truly beautiful images.

Get comfortable and enjoy Jessica + Brian's wedding trailer. As always, click on the comments button below to let me know what you think. Congrats Jess + Brian!!

christina + alex: the wedding trailer

Christina + Alex's wedding day was a day full of surprises... from the musical guests at their wedding ceremony to the unpredictable weather. Although the rain played with us abit, it ultimately decided to pass us over, leaving behind beautiful weather (good thing for us as the wedding was outdoors!). Alex - a pro football player - and Christina met at college and have been an item ever since. They actually were married a few years ago (another surprise...) in a small private ceremony prior to one of Alex's football games. They decided they wanted to include family + friends in their celebration so planned this special day. And special it was! They both have such amazing smiles, which I think were on their faces most of the day :) Here's the trailer from their upcoming wedding film. Congrats Christina + Alex!
